Become the Perfect Jedi Sentinel in kotOR
Want to successfully beat Knights of the Old Republic 1? Here is the guide on how to be a perfect Jedi Sentinel. In RPG terms, Sentinels are a cross between a warrior and a mage. Jedi Sentinel also excel in other skills that make gameplay perfect.
Steps
- Consider starting out as a scout. The scout is the most balanced class in the game. While you are well trained in combat, you are skillful in other fields too. Although you are not as strong as a soldier, your agility is the best and can save you in times of peril. Your skills are enough to make you an all rounder in the galaxy. Not all of your companions will be with you all the time (e.g. at the final battle), so you are a person who can do everything all the time by yourself .
- Select starting attributes. Optimal starting attributes of: STR :12,DEX :14,CON :12,INT :14,WIS :12,CHA :14. This set up is to make sure all points have +1 and +2 modifiers.
- Invest your points. In the game, you will have 5 bonus point so invest it in Strength in early game and Wisdom in late game. This makes you a very versatile and balanced character.
- As a scout, you will have access to one unique feat: Uncanny Dodge. This increases your chances of 'saving' against grenades. You also get all 3 Implant feats for free, if you level up to 8.
- Use implants. Implants are the advantage for Scout because implants can make you a different person depends on which implant you use. Some can change your attribute, some can give immunities and some give HP regeneration.
- You will also get Force Immunity to Fear, Stun and Insanity. Although you will have a low attack bonus, this Immunity is worth it and can save you when facing Dark Jedi late-game. You also have less Force Points than Jedi Consulars, but that is because they are terrible melee fighters.
- The rest is up to you because this game is an RPG meaning it is up to the player to choose. However, I recommend you to choose more neutral powers than light side powers and dark side powers. Neutral powers are universal in usage, and aren't effected by alignment changes. After all, the goal is to make your character balanced :-)
Tips
- You don't have to invest all your skill points, save some and invest it later when you become a Jedi. When you are a Jedi, Persuasion is your Class Skill, you can invest more in this.
- With INT 14 you will get +3 Skill points (as Jedi Sentinel)to spent each level ups in which can cover all essential skills needed for side quests such as Repair for HK-47 and Persuade to unlock new dialogues and path. With high Persuasion, you may abandon Jedi Mind Trick (Affect Mind) feat and so you may choose other useful Jedi power feats.
- Stick to Flurry as your attack style. Remember that you only have 5 feats to choose.
- With INT 14 you will have +4 Skill points (as Scout) when levelling up, so invest this in Persuade, Computer Use, Repair, Demolition, Awareness and Treat Injury.
- Never invest in Stealth and Security. In the game, your party members Carth and Mission can lockpick doors for you, and most locked objects can be bashed open. Stealth is also pretty useless in the game, and it is not your class skill.
- Collect as many mines, grenades, spikes and parts that you can. Even if you end up not using them, you can sell them to make a profit.
