Catch Groudon in Pokémon SoulSilver
Not many people know that you can catch Groudon on SoulSilver, but here's how you can!
Steps
- Have a Pokémon that's about close to Lvl. 70 and knows False Swipe. False Swipe is sold at the Goldenrod Dept. Store and can be given to Kingler/Krabby, Cubone/Marowak and many other Pokémon.
- Once you have beaten the Elite Four and Lance, go to the Kanto region. Between the time you go there, you will get the National Pokedex.
- Beat all the Kanto gym leaders. After beating them go to Prof. Oak's lab and he will give you the Rock Climb HM.
- Go to Mr. Pokémon's house and get the red orb from him.
- Go to Cianwood and find the Cliff cave. At Cliff cave, climb down the ladder.
- Surf to the left till you see this rocky island and use rock climb to climb the mountain.
- Go into the cave next to the hiker, and you will see Groudon.
- Make sure that you save the game before the battle just in case you do not catch him you will be able to turn off and then on your system and just be ready for battle again
- Check your Pokémon and make sure they're in shape for the battle.
- Have a Pokémon that knows a status move, which are moves like Hypnosis, Yawn, Thunder Wave, and any other move that can stop or stall Groundon.
- Use False Swipe until he has 1 health then use a status move. The False Swiping will leave Groundon with 1 health then the status move will also stop it from attacking and make it easier to catch.
- Use a Pokeball over and over till you catch him. Dusk Balls or Ultra Balls are highly recommended.
Tips
- Paralyze moves are not a better idea then freezing and sleeping moves because being paralyzed doesn't stop Groudon completely.
- If the battle seems like it'll never end, try a Timer Ball. Their accuracy increases in proportion to the length of the battle, so they're good for catching legendaries!
- The higher your Pokémon's level, the better.
- Master Balls have a 100% of catching.
Warnings
- Save your game before fighting so if he faints, you can restart the game.
