Change Your Homepage in Microsoft Edge

Edge, Microsoft's new web browser for Windows 10, has a streamlined interface with few user options. You can, however, add a Home button to the browser to quickly load your favorite page. You can also set specific pages to open every time Edge starts.

Steps

Setting a Home Page

  1. Click the "..." button in the upper-right corner of the browser.
  2. Select "Settings."
  3. Scroll down and select "View advanced settings." This will display advanced browser settings, with the Home button toggle at the very top. The Home button is disabled by default in the Edge browser. Turning it on will allow you to quickly load your designated home page whenever you'd like:[1]
  4. Toggle "Show the home button" on. The Home button will appear to the left of the address bar.
  5. Enter the home page you want to use. After toggling the Home button on, you'll see a field appear where you can enter an address. Enter in the website you want to turn into your Home page. By default, it will be set to "about:start," which is the Edge search and news page.
    • You can paste an address into this field if you've already copied it.
    • If you try to select an address to copy, the Settings pane will close. Follow the substeps in Step 1 again to see the home button toggle.
  6. Click "Save" after entering an address. This will save your address as your new Home button page. Whenever you click the Home button, this page will load.

Setting an "Open With" Page

  1. Use this setting to change what pages appear when Edge is launched. The Home button can only load a single page when clicked, while the Open With page or pages will load whenever Edge is launched.
  2. Click the "..." button and select "Settings." This will open the Settings sidebar.
  3. Select one of the four "Open with" options. You can choose from four different behaviors for when Edge starts:
    • Start page - This will load the "about:start" tab when Edge launches.
    • New tab page - This will open the "New Tab" page, which is similar to the Start page but includes your top sites.
    • Previous pages - This will load the tabs that were still open when Edge was last closed.
    • A specific page or pages - This will load the pages you specify whenever edge is loaded, each in a separate tab.
  4. Select "Custom" from the drop-down menu. If you selected "A specific page or pages," click the drop-down menu that says "Bing" or "MSN" and select "Custom." This will allow you to type in pages you want to load.
  5. Enter the addresses of the pages you want to load. After selecting "Custom," click the "Enter a web address" field and type or paste the address you want to add. Once you've entered an address, click "+" to add it to the list.[2]
    • You can remove addresses from the list by clicking the "X" buttons next to them.
