Change Your Tumblr Theme
Changing your Tumblr theme can give your Tumblr the personalization and customization you want. Here's how to do it!
Steps
- Find a theme you like. You can find themes by browsing the 'theme' tag on Tumblr, or you can search for themes online.
- Click to view the working theme for the code.
- Save or copy the code. The code link should open up to something that looks like this. Save it for later.
- Log into your Tumblr account.
- Find the gear icon at the top of your Tumblr dashboard.
- Click on the gear icon to access your Account page.
- Find your blog name on the settings sidebar to the left of the Account page.
- Click on your blog. Then scroll down and click on "Customize.".
- Click the "Edit HTML" button.
- Find and highlight the code of your existing theme. Delete it so the box is empty.
- Copy your desired theme code. Go back to the code of the theme you chose at the beginning. Highlight and copy it.
- Paste your new theme code into the empty HTML box you cleared on your Tumblr. Once you've pasted it, click "Update Preview" and "Save."
- Click 'Appearance' at the top of the page to close the box. Make sure your work is saved and then reload the page.
- Scroll down to 'Appearance' on the Customize side bar. Upload a picture of your choosing from your picture library.
- Customize your colors and links as desired.
- To add links from within your Tumblr, put a / followed by the page you want to link to (e.g. /submit).
- To add external links, delete the '/' and just copy and paste the link from the other website.
- Make sure to to give your links a name under "Link Title."
