Change the Game Language in Diablo II Lord of Destruction

The great game Diablo 2 has no "change language" option available. You have to do it at the beginning. And beginning = installation!

Let's say you have the original German version of Diablo 2 and you really want the English one, because all the item names and tags are pretty shitty in German, but still want to play on Battle.net.

Steps

  1. Put your "English Backup Installation Disc" into your CD-ROM drive. When autorun executes you choose "Full Installation".
  2. Type your original CD-Key when asked.
  3. Follow the steps that the installation wizard gives you, until it asks for the directory to install the game.
  4. Eject the original CD from your CD-rom drive and put your "German Original Installation CD".
  5. Go on installation as usual, but always use your "Original German Discs" when the wizard wants the other 2 CDs (Play disc and Video disc)
  6. Play the Game. You don't need a Fixed-Exe. You have and English original game now!

Tips

  • You can apply the same procedure with the expansion "Lord of Destruction"
  • Go onto battle.net and make an account
(if you haven't already made one) then go to the blizzard chat channel or enter a game, then type /m xxpizza_manxx
and then type a message and I will probably be there to give you more information.
  • You will be using your original Cd-Key. No problem with Battle-Net.
  • This is the same person from the sentence above, you can also try typing in the game name pizza and type the password as pringles
and you might go to a game where you might find me.  So just try it.  And you could also try my good friend tehlolrus
and he might be able to hook you up w/ me.  Or rustfroth

Warnings

  • This procedure doesn't seem to have any negative effects on gameplay (error's, crashes, etc), since it has been tested for over 3 years. Still you wouldn't want to lose your Hardcore level 99 sorceress, so this procedure is not recommended for hardcore players.

Things You'll Need

  • Your own original Diablo 2 cd in a language other than you actually wanted.
  • A Diablo 2 backup cd in the language you actually want.
