Change the Grip of a Tennis Racquet

Do you have an old, ragged wrap on your tennis racket that's impairing you game? All you need to replace it is a new wrap and five minutes.

Steps

  1. Take off the tape holding the wrap on. (Located on the handle, near the strings.)
  2. Slowly unwrap the wrap from the handle.
  3. Take the new wrap from its case.
  4. Slowly wrap the new wrap tightly around the handle, in the same way the old wrap was attached.
  5. Start at the base of the handle-the end opposite from the end in which you started removing the old wrap.
  6. When you reach the top or run out of wrap, use the small piece of tape (usually supplied with the new wrap) and secure the top of the wrap with it. If that tape is not supplied, use electrical tape.
  7. Take your freshly-wrapped racket to the courts with some friends and break it in.

Tips

  • Take your time! A well-wrapped wrap will last longer that a poorly-wrapped one.
  • Wraps do not need to be replaced every time they are dirty, but only when they appear well-used.
