Clean Your Nostril While Wearing a Nose Ring
Is your nose ring getting in the way when you try to clean your nostril? Sometimes it's inconvenient to take out your nose ring, and if you just had your nose pierced, taking it out could cause the hole to heal up. The solution: use a cotton swab to gently clean your nostril, especially around the piercing site. If you clean your nostril well, you'll avoid infection and keep your nose ring looking great.

Steps
- Wash your hands with antibacterial soap.
- Take a clean Q-tip and dip it into some freshly boiled water with sea salt (this can be bought at any Rite Aid/CVS). The mixture is best made up with a boiling mug of water and one teaspoon of salt. (Wait to cool before using.) A small amount of antibacterial soap can be used in place of the sea salt.
- Swab the around the piercing site on the inside and outside of your nostril, making sure not to touch the piercing with your hand or move the piercing, as this may introduce bacteria into the piercing.
- Make sure all moisture (or soap) is removed from the piercing. Use a soft tissue (Preferably the kind with lotion) to remove any water as water is more likely to carry bacteria.
Tips
- Never use a harsh chemical to clean it.
- A nice hot shower always loosens up a crusty piercing.
- Tea tree and grapeseed oil, Savlon Spray, or salt water are good for infection. Peroxide is not, as it irritates the skin.
- Never stick your fingers up there (if they're dirty, they can cause an infection).
- Chamomile tea is good for loosening infection.
Warnings
- Do not touch the piercing with your hands unless they are clean!
