College life

Some college students consider homeworks, quizzes, and reading assignments as tasks required by professors that they must do to pass the course but actually do not mean anything to them. This is the wrong view of learning. They need to understand that all school works are tools that help them to develop their own skills. By only doing the minimum of work just to pass courses, they are denying themselves a chance to develop their skills. If you pay attention, you will see that there are many people who go through life but never realizing their potential. They do not have a steady job, but only move from one boring job to another because they do not have the needed skills. They have college degrees but lost their dreams as they are struggling to live an unfulfilling life and have no motivation to do anything. Do not let it happen to you.

As a college student, you should develop your skills toward something that you want to do. Even at this time, it maybe just a dream but it is up to you to make your dream become a reality. It is up to you to realize the possibilities and the choices in front of you as your future is in your hand. The reason you go to college is to get educated and only you can decide how you will achieve what you want. No one say college is easy. A successful college education requires many years of hard work, and you cannot succeed without commitment and sacrifice. I believe that most students can be successful in college and that the amount of hard work, dedication, and determination is what separates those who are successful from those who are not.

Some people consider college as an elimination process where graduates get good jobs because of how well they have prepared themselves through their hard work in college. They have demonstrated that they have what it is required to succeed. Many students begin college but do not succeed because they cannot overcome some obstacles or get distracted by trivial things. I as wrote in my earlier blog, you should consider college as your first job that you must work for four years. If you do not do well in your first job then how could you do well in your second or third job?

Many students believe college is the time to meet many friends and some may lead to romantic relationship. As student, you need to figure out what types of friend or activity that you are going to find in a relationship. You could select friends in class to study with or form a study group. There are students who have the same learning interests as you. You could volunteer your time at some charity places or involve in community activities. There are students who also have the same interests as you. Chances are if you meet someone in these areas, you may find someone who shares many things with you. However, you could also find friends to go to party with or drinking with too. There are many young students who would easily get distracted by these “Fun” activities. Parties, dance clubs, and local bars are the ideal places to meet those people. You must be very careful for parties or places that you go. If you go to somebody houses or rooms for private parties, you are going to meet a wide range of people who may not be your good friends as you think they are. Of course, as an adult you have to be responsible for yourself and you should keep it in mind. Your few minutes of passion could leave you with a life changing disease or unwanted pregnancy. Some diseases have no cure, and you will have them for the rest of your life. Do not ruin your future.

College is about more than developing the foundation for your professional, it also is a time to develop your own character. Enjoy your college time but be smart. Do not compromise your future for the sake of one moment of pleasure. Please understand that all distractions come from you and your attitude. If you have difficulty in learning, try to see what is bothering you and take actions to eliminate it. Most problems yield to direct action, but you must do the acting. Ask yourself, what do you want to achieve? How can it best be done? Set a definite time to study. You can get as much done in few hours if you know you must. Evaluate your success or failure. You can learn best from making mistakes, provided you recognize that they are mistakes. Do not let anything interfere with your task of getting an education. If something must be neglected, then neglect something other than learning. Your future is important as it determine your life so do not get pushed out of school than spend the rest of your life feel bitter about it.
