Connect Your Xbox 360 to Windows Media Center
To stream media content like photos, music, and videos to your TV from your computer running a Windows system, you can set up Xbox 360 or other devices as the Media Center Extender by connecting it to your home network.
Steps
- Connect the Ethernet cable on the back of the Xbox 360 console. onnect the other side of the Ethernet cable to your modem/router for a wi-fi connection, or directly to your PC/laptop.
- Turn on your computer. If you're using wi-fi, make sure it has been connected to your home network.
- Turn on the Extender device Xbox 360 and connect it to the same home network.
- Launch Windows Media Center by following "Start" > "All Programs" > "Windows Media Center."
- On the start screen of your Windows Media Center, click "Tasks" and "Add extender." Then click "Save or " "Next."
- On your Xbox 360, use your Xbox 360 controller to scroll to "My Xbox." Then select "Windows Media Center."
- Enter onto your PC the 8-digit setup key that appears on your TV. Click "Next" to complete the setup.
- Enjoy.
Tips
- Video and audio files that come inconsistent with Windows Media Center and Xbox 360 in format cannot be streamed on your home network. Get a video converter first in case that format incompatibility gets in the way.
Warnings
- Make sure that you have Windows Media Center on your PC/laptop.
