Create a Spider Man Web Shooter Prop

Ever wanted to make a Spider-Man film with wall crawling and web shooting? If you want web shooting, you came to the right place! This article will show you how to create a Spider Man web shooter prop!

Steps

Making a Pipe Prop

  1. Gather your supplies.
  2. Cut six pieces from the PVC Pipe (5.7 cm).
  3. Paint the pipes with the shiny bronze paint.
  4. Grab the metallic rod and paint it with the white paint.
  5. Wait for the pipe and the rod to dry.
  6. Cut a piece of Velcro strap from the smooth side that can go around your wrist. If your wrist is big, buy a bigger Velcro strap.
  7. Cut a {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} piece from the rough side and stick it on the Velcro strap that is going to go around your wrist.
  8. Cut a {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} strip from the rough side and stick it on the pipes.
  9. Wear the Velcro strap on your wrist and and stick the pipes on.

Using Silly-String

  1. Put on a long-sleeved shirt. Roll back the right sleeve if you are right-handed, or the left sleeve if you are left-handed.
  2. Hold a can of string-shooting foam against the inside of your hand. Move the can so that the nozzle at one end is even with your wrist. Rotate the can so that the nozzle is pointing away from you.
  3. Have an assistant wrap a strip of masking tape around the bottom of the can and your arm. Have the assistant wrap a strip of masking tape around the top of the can, just below the nozzle, and your arm. Roll the sleeve down so that it covers your arm and the can.
  4. Go outside in your backyard. Have your assistant stand a few feet away and pretend to be a bad guy.
  5. Shake your arm up and down for five seconds. Turn your hand over so that your palm is facing you. Aim your hand at the "bad guy." Press the nozzle with your thumb to fire your "web."

Creating the Effect

  1. Take footage of you doing the motion like you were going to fire the web.
  2. Adjust the camera so that the shooter and your hand is just showing.
  3. Thread the web into the shooter.
  4. Film.
  5. Pull the web out and move your hand like you're about to shoot the web and CUT!
  6. Reverse the footage of the web and mix it with the wide shot (from earlier).

Tips

  • Do more than a second coating when you paint.
