Create a Stencil from a Picture Using Microsoft Word

Stenciling is fairly simple. It requires few and inexpensive materials, and is a great form of art.

Steps

  1. Find an image that you'd like to make into a stencil.
  2. Copy and paste it into Microsoft Word.
  3. Use the image toolbar to change the image to black and white and enlarge accordingly
  4. Make sure there aren't that many little islands (isolated white spots), otherwise you'll have to remember where they go and it'll be pretty annoying.
  5. Print the stencil and trace it onto the tracing paper, or simply trace it directly off the computer screen.
  6. Cut out the stencil, and trace it onto the cardboard.
  7. Cut the stencil out of the cardboard, and use an appropriate paint to stencil the picture onto T-shirts, other clothing, walls, etc.

Warnings

  • No graffiti unless you're Banksy.
