Create a Wobble Bass in Garageband
The wobble bass is the primary characteristic of Dubstep, a form of electronic music. Despite its fairly complex sound, the wobble base sound is very easy to attain in Garageband. Note: This article assumes you have a basic understanding of the way Garageband works
Steps
- Change the Piano to the Deep Round Synth Bass, found under bass. Open up musical typing.
- Click "Edit". Under "Sound Generator", click the picture of the wires. At the bottom, drag the distortion all the way to the right.
- Under "Effects", turn on the Compressor and add Amp Simulation. Keep both on default.
- Add Automatic Filter. This is what will make the wobble sound. Set the frequency to 50%, resonance to 30% and intensity to 10%. Set the speed to somewhere around 70%. Adjust the speed to whatever sounds good.
Tips
- Feel free to mess around with the setting and add more effects to get the desired sound.
- If you are making dubstep, be sure to turn down the beat and let the bass ring out.
