Dip Dye Your Hair with Kool Aid at Different Lengths with Different Colors

Dying hair with Kool Aid is becoming a popular fashion trend! Also it is very fun to do, although it takes practice and time to get it just right. Streaks and tips are becoming more mainstream, so here is how to do different colors with Kool Aid at different lengths! It looks really cool and it is a lot of fun to do.

Steps

  1. Pick any Kool-Aid color of your choice. Blondes should use around 2 packets and brunettes should use around 3 packets.
  2. Fill your cooking pot with about an inch of water. Put it over the stove and boil until bubbles break at the surface and steam comes up.
  3. Once the water is boiling, open a packet of Kool-Aid and pour it into the water. Stir with a spoon until it is completely mixed in.
  4. Turn off the stove and put the cooking pot on a cold surface. Make sure it is completely cooled down before continuing.
  5. Transfer the cooled down Kool-Aid water into a bowl or plastic cup and dip at most half of your hair from the tips. Leave it in for 5-10 minutes.
  6. Rinse your hair off in cool water. Brush it out when you are done soaking it. Air dry or blow dry your hair until it is completely dry.
  7. Boil water again and put a different color of Kool-Aid in.
  8. Repeat the previous process except dip your hair half of what you dipped the last time for 15 minutes.
  9. Repeat the process again and soak the tips of your hair for 20 minutes and rinse off.
  10. Dry your hair.
  11. You should get great results if you did it right!

Tips

  • You should use an old shirt.
  • Make sure your hair is completely dry before doing the next shade of Kool Aid.
  • Dip your hair for 15 minutes, and use 2 packets of the same color, for amazing results.
  • For best results, you should do the lighter colors/flavors first and the darker colors/flavors last, or at the bottom of your hair.
  • It could possibly stain your hair and leave a tiny hint of color even after several washes.
  • Lemon juice will help get the colors out faster.
  • More damaged hair will soak up the Kool Aid more and stay in longer, and healthy hair won't be as vibrant as damaged hair and will stay in shorter.
  • To make the next color look good and bold, not washed out and sort of like the last color, use more than 1 packets of that color/flavor.
  • When you are about to dip the hair in the cooled Kool-Aid mixture, put all of your hair into a ponytail (all of the hair you want to dye) so it would be easier to make sure that all of your hair is being dyed.
  • Use unsweetened Kool-Aid so you can stop stickiness and to get the color out.

Warnings

  • Kool Aid cannot be washed out. If you do it wrong or you think it looks horrible, then consider dying your hair back to its natural color at the salon or out of a box.
