Download a YouTube Video or Audio into Your iTunes Library
YouTube is an endless source of fun and entertainment that can keep you and your friends laughing -- or learning -- for hours. There's only one real downside to YouTube: you need an Internet connection to be able to enjoy the endless array of videos on the site. However, that doesn't have to be the case anymore: you can easily download YouTube videos or audio and enjoy them offline at any time! Two of the most popular ways of doing this were to use Zamzar or Video2MP3. Zamzar no longer supports downloading from Youtube. Video2MP3 is a waste of time and way to risky, you spend your whole time trying to avoid downloading viruses and malware!

Steps
Downloading Videos using Zamzar (NO LONGER SUPPORTED
- Go to YouTube and find the video that you wish to download into your iTunes library.
- Copy the Share URL of the video. This can be found by clicking on the share button located underneath the video.
- In a new tab or window, go to www.zamzar.com and click on the Download Videos tab.
- Delete any text inside the text box and paste the URL you took from the YouTube page into that text box. Make sure to double check that URL is selected. If it is selected it will not be a hyperlink.
- Choose the format you want to convert the video into. For video on an ipod/iphone you need to choose the mp4 format. If you are only wanting the audio of the video choose the mp3 format.
- Type your e-mail into the step 3 text box and hit the “convert” button listed under step 4. An alert box will open asking that the e-mail address you put is correct. Make sure it is your correct e-mail address and click on the “ok” button. The warning box should close and the file will begin to convert. The progress will show underneath the “convert files” box.
- Once the progress turns to 100% complete check your e-mail. Open the e-mail that Zamzar sent you and click on the second hyperlink that is included in the e-mail, the hyperlink will be under a sentence that begins with “alternatively click.” Be sure to not hit the hyperlink that takes you to sign up for a Zamzar account. Opening an account will make it so converted files get sent to your account rather than in an email, so if you plan on converting a lot files an account may be a good idea.
- On the new Zamzar page that the hyperlink took you to, click the Download Now button. Click “save file” in the alert box that opens. This should save the file straight to your desktop or downloads folder (If it is not on your desktop you may have to go to “my documents” and search for the file which will have the same name as the original YouTube video.)
- Once it is done downloading, make sure the video works by double clicking it and opening with Quicktime or Windows Media Player. If it works you are ready to move it into your iTunes library.
- Open iTunes and change the size of the iTunes window so that you can see the file on your desktop. Drag the file from your desktop and into your library on the left hand column of the itunes window (it will turn green when it is the right place to drop the file). Click on the “movies” tab and make sure the movie you downloaded is in that library. If the file isn't on your desktop you can use the "Add to Library" function on the File menu.
- Click on the movie and make sure it plays through itunes. If it does the video is successfully imported into your library and is ready to go on your iPod/iPhone the next time you sync it through your iTunes library.
