Figure out the Notes to Any Song Without Sheet Music

You may be listening to a song on the radio and think: 'I want to play this song on my instrument.' You might go to every store and can't find the sheet music, or it's just not in the budget. Now, you'll never have to go through that again with this guide.

Steps

  1. Make sure you are absolutely certain that there are stores on the internet or in your city that have the song. If they do, buy it. Sheet music is more accurate than "by ear" compositions.
  2. Figure out the very first note of the song. This is the most vital step. I remember this: if the first note is wrong, so is the whole song. To make sure that you have the first note correct, play your supposed starting note at the same time with the actual starting note. You will need a stereo or CD player for this. Both notes should sound identical. Remember: 91% of the time your instrument will not be in the same key as the song.
  3. Figure out the next segment, or measure of the song. To do this, go from your starting note to the next measure in guesses. Guess the notes. After you guess them, you must check them with the actual song. After you do that, play them at the exact same time. If it matches up, then you have got the exact same notes.
  4. Check your scale sheets. Every scale has certain notes that characterize itself. There are plenty of scales. Take for example, if my song was in D Major, that would mean that my song would include D E F# G A B C# D then it would be in D Major. If possible, check your scale with the key of the actual song.
  5. Repeat the process several times, and finally, you have your song!

Tips
