For teachers who want to improve their materials

A teacher wrote to me: “I follow your blog and enjoy all articles on education improvement. I want to update and improve my teaching materials to benefit my students but do not know how. Please advise.”

I wrote back to her: “There is a platform called the Open Education Resources (OER) that provides a wide variety of educational resources that any teacher can use. These resources include “full courses, course materials, modules, textbooks, streaming videos, tests, software, and tools, materials, techniques used to support education.”

As a teacher, you can re-use or modify these instructional resources to fit your own teaching based on the learning needs of your students. This site also provides several tools to allow teachers to contribute their own educational materials to share with others too. You can use Open Author to create documents, or Lesson Builder to create interactive lessons, or Module Builder to design interactive modules.

The OER also has an internal search functionality that allows you to easily locate any resource you want. You can refine your search by subject, grade level and standards.

This is a great site for teachers of all grades to improve their teaching materials. It can help you and other teachers to make teaching an exciting experience for all students.
