Get Information on Medicare Benefits

Need to know more about your coverage? Want to know if you're getting the best plan for you and your family? If you do, then read this article which will explain how to do so with step-by-step instructions.

Steps

  1. Call the Social Security or Human Services department of your county and request a range of information with the necessary details. You might need to also ask about private benefits, requirements to cover gap treatments, or any other out-of-pocket expenses. This is often called the MediGap Scheme, otherwise known as a Medicare Supplement Scheme.
  2. Go to the official website for Medicare in your country. There are Medicare programs in the US, Canada, and Australia. If you're not in one of these countries, your country may have similar programs under another name.
  3. Obtain information on MediGap Schemes.
  4. Get coverage that suits your needs. You might also need to get a card, or some other form of proof, that you are part of the health care system in question. This is especially important when you are traveling, moving between countries, or trying to get free or reduced price services through the public health care system, such as elective surgery.
