Get Rid of Boredom

Are you always bored? Fix it. Learn a variety of ways that you can have fun and occupy your time.

Steps

  1. Find something to do. Think of things that you like to do. Once you find something, you're good to go! If not, continue.
  2. Make a list of things to do when you're bored. These things will occupy you and help you the next time when you are bored. For example, think of things such as, could I clean the house or my bedroom? Could I learn a new language? Or perhaps you could find some friends to spend time together.
  3. Play board games. Don't just think Monopoly, Clue or Snakes and Ladders. Try German-style board games like Agricola, Carcassonne, Puerto Rico or Settlers of Catan.
  4. Play mental games like Pente, Blokus, Chess, and Quoridor.
  5. Play card games like Bohnanza, Tichu or Pit.
  6. Once you are done, try step one. If that fails again, do one of the things on your list.
  7. Go to bed, have some rest for about 5 or 10 minutes if the previous steps didn't work.
  8. Open your clothes box and find the nicest clothes you like to wear and feel comfortable wearing them.
  9. Have a shower with cold water or warm water, but it`s better to be cold.
  10. Make a cup of coffee or tea, as you like.
  11. Go out in the open air.
  12. Call a group of your best friends and ask them for a picnic or the club or cinema.
  13. Buy a present for your mom or some one you love.
  14. Clean your closet if it is messy.
  15. Play games from BINGO to patty-cake as long as it is something that lasts.
  16. Do something that is relaxing like sleeping.
  17. Find something entertaining to do; watch TV or online videos.
  18. Invite people over you are never bored when people are there.

Tips

  • Use your imagination, be creative and invent some games of your own
  • Play video games with your friends or family.
  • Invite a friend over. Two minds are better than one!
  • Go through your photo album and think of all your memories.
  • Keep your list with you, in case new ideas or boring moments arise.
  • Make your list long, so it lasts longer.
  • Have a group of nice friends and call them friends in need.
  • Go to the store and buy some seeds and plant them in a pot. Or plant them outside. It is a fun, quick hands-on activity that will help the world. You can make a difference!
  • Try to have happy memories as they`ll help you a lot.
  • Go on a journey with your friends.
  • Play flash games. Go to sites like Addicting Games where they have a large variety of different, short games to play. There will often times be different categories to fit your mood. Try several different games, find one you really like, work to get a hard score, and move to the next.
  • On iTunes there are several series and genres of podcasts, anything from comedy to news to other specific hobbies. These podcasts when adding a few together can last hours and keep you occupied. You can also subscribe to a certain creator to get updates on new podcasts that that person makes.
  • There is always something productive to do wherever you are and whoever you are. Just look around and make yourself useful. Help a neighbor, volunteer to help a public school in some way, visit and just spend time at a senior citizen home. Call in and help the community by notifying the good services you see in your town by the workers.
  • Make a list of people you know who need encouragement. Write a "thinking of you" note and send it to them or go for a face-to-face visit and give it to them.
  • Find a new book written by your favorite author. If you do not have a favorite author, go to your local public library and seek out the help from a library employee for books on subjects that interest you. Read one.
  • Make a fort! Grab all of your pillows and blankets, and drape them along the couch. Attach them to shelves with books. Tie them to chairs by using string, yarn, ribbon or looping hair ties together. Add blankets for privacy, and make it comfy on the inside with more blankets and pillows. Add flashlights, and prepare to defend your fort!
  • Add to your collection of interests by creating a physical list of what you enjoy and add branches from those things. For example, if you like going to your friend's house and looking at their pet frogs, make it an adventure to find a pet store and buy one for yourself.
  • Organize yourself. Purchase a diary and sort yourself out. Plan your outfits or meals for the week. Put all those loose pens in a jar. Organizing yourself can make you feel heaps better about yourself and you will always know where all those little bits and pieces are.
  • Watch YouTube videos! Find a new comedy channel and watch through all their videos. Have a good laugh.

Warnings

  • Don't whine to your parents about being bored. If you don't complain, they might take you somewhere.
