Get Scouted by a Modeling Agency

If you want to be scouted by a modelling agency try to start your own little agency. Get the word out if you really want some publicity.

Steps

  1. To get scouted by an agency you have to have the right size. Being skinny is an asset to being a model. If you're not the right size, consider plus size modelling.
  2. If you want to be a model, take a couple photos of yourself and upload them to your website or even Facebook. You could start a page if you want to get other girls to join and become your own little agency right there.
  3. Take good care of your skin. Models always have clear skin. Remember being a model has its ups and downs.
  4. Get the word out. Hang up some posters around town and maybe start a club for girls around your age. Take some pictures send them to an agency.

  • Make sure you know about the industry, because there are many scams. More than this, the industry will do its utmost to know about you so don't play naive. If you have skeletons in the closet, tell the agency up front, or make sure the key has those skeletons locked away forever. Get to know what you're in for, who works for whom, and what is happening in the fashion world. Anyone seeking a career would do the same in any field, so don't see modelling as any different.
  • Act professional. Don't act girly girl; that is an irritant.
  • Be calm, cool, and collected. Be genuine. Do not be a snob or think too highly of yourself. Naivety is not encourage but a sense of humility is great.
  • You may want to think about getting a comp card and a headshot. This can be pricey but will help you a lot.
  • Be very outgoing and spontaneous; they would rather have a model who is friendly, than one who isn't. Then again, if you're naturally quiet, don't force yourself to be what you're not; just be pleasant and polite.
  • Make you sure you have your resume up-to-date at all times. You never know when the opportunity can arise.

  • Do not pay money upfront. This is the big give away that is a a scam. Many have learned the Hard way.
  • If you are young, go with a parent or guardian at all times. Even if you think you're smart enough, the agency won't.
  • Tell the police and consumer affairs departments if you fall prey to con artists in the modelling industry. Don't let other girls be future bait.

  • Do not do anything you feel uncomfortable doing. If you feel uncomfortable, like as not it isn't professional modelling and your reputation will suffer for it, if not your sanity and morality.
