Get Straight Hair With Salon Quality at Home

Get soft, silky straight hair with no frizz without leaving home!

Steps

  1. Pour the 1/3 cup of cold milk into your spray bottle. 20 minutes before your shower, spray the entire bottle of milk through your hair, tip to scalp. Your hair should be very damp.
  2. Use a wide tooth comb or a pick to gently comb through your damp hair. Comb through every knot and tangle.
  3. Leave the milk in your hair for 10 additional minutes.
  4. Wash the milk out of your hair as you would normally wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner. Make sure all the suds are completely washed out.
  5. Towel dry your hair and comb it again. Allow your hair to dry naturally. Don't use a hair dryer, unless it has a 'cool' setting.
  6. When your hair is completely dry, take a rat-tail comb and create a part across the back of your hair, starting at the back of your ear, to the other. You will have a thin row of hair, no thicken than a half inch. Use a clip to pin the rest of your hair to the top of your head.
  7. When your straightener is hot, take a small section of hair from the row, no more than a section {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} wide, comb it a little, and wedge it between to the two plates of your straightener. Get your straightener as close to your scalp as you can and clamp it shut. While continuing the tension, slowly pull away from your scalp, getting the entire section of hair. Repeat 2 or 3 times or until the section is as straight as you want it.
  8. Repeat until you have the entire row straightened.
  9. Once the column of hair is straightened, take your mousse and pump a pea-size amount of it into your palm. Rub your palms together and then work it through the row of hair. Make sure you rub all of it into your hair.
  10. Comb the row of hair.
  11. Repeat until all the hair is straightened.
  12. Once all the hair is straightened, pump a quarter-sized amount of mousse and work it through your entire head of hair. Comb out your hair.
  13. Finished.

Tips

  • Over straightening your hair will cause heat damage.
  • The smaller section of hair you straighten at a time, the straighter it will turn out. It may take a little longer but the results will be great.
  • You may want to have someone help you spray the milk into your hair, just in case your hands start to ache.

Warnings

  • Don't set the heat too high on your straightener. You can seriously damage your hair.
  • Don't use the straightener on hair that already has mousse in it. It may start a fire.
  • Make sure to wash the milk out of your hair completely. Otherwise, you will smell like sour milk. Yuck!
  • Don't use too much moose. Too much moose will leave your hair sticky and hard to comb out.
