Get Your Limewire Music in Your iTunes Library
Have you downloaded 500 songs off Limewire and you are not sure how to get them in your iTunes library or on your iPod? It's a simple, but annoying process. This how-to is meant for Windows XP.
Steps
- Find the folder in which your Limewire music is imported to. If you do not know where it is, go to Start and click on Search. When it asks what you what you want to search for, put a check on Picture, Music, and Video. Put a name of one of the songs you downloaded from Limewire onto the search bar and press Go. Right click on the file and go to "Open Containing Folder". Write down the address.
- Open iTunes.
- Go to File.
- Go to Add Folder to Library.
- Browse to the folder your music is on. Click on it once.
- Click OK. If you have a lot of music, it will take a while for it to be imported.
- If you down load another song off Limewire, you will have to repeat the process. Instead of clicking on Add Folder to Library, you have to click on Add File to Library, and you have to pick out the individual file.
Simpler Method
- Download Your Tunes.
- Open iTunes.
- Simply Click on the finished downloads and drag them into iTunes.
- That's it, iTunes will do the rest.
Tips
- The songs will be in your library; if you want them on play lists, just click and drag.
- You will have to copy and paste the album artwork off of Wikipedia or Amazon. The songs will not automatically come with them.
- Alternatively, if you have internet access and an active Itunes Store account, you can get Itunes to get the album artwork for you. Just right click on the song and select "Get Album Artwork" from the menu. However, this won't work if the Store doesn't have the album.
- Some of the songs you download off Limewire will have incorrect info (artist, album, etc.). To change this, right click on a song and go to Get Info. Go to the Info tab, and you should be able to edit the info. This can be done on Limewire also by right clicking on a song and going to Describe.
- It's always much easier to just buy songs on iTunes but far more expensive.
- Careful - If you accidentally download a virus and put it on your iPod, it will ruin it!
Warnings
- Be careful what you download on Limewire. Lots of sites share ads and replace the name with the name of a popular song.
