Get a Car Towed off Your Property

Is there someone who has left their car on your property in a rather inconvenient place? Or has some inconsiderate person dumped and left their car on your land? Then this simple guide will help you in the steps to removing the vehicle.

Steps

  1. Call the police and explain the situation briefly. This should be the only step that you take, however, if you wish to take the situation on yourself you will only have yourself to blame for the consequences that occur as a result.
  2. If you want to do-it-yourself, get hold of a long and strong rope.
  3. Tie the rope at the back of your car using either the bumper or the tow bar. Use a knot that will not become loose easy.
  4. Tie the other end to the bumper or tow bar of the car that needs to be towed.
  5. Make sure the rope is taught throughout the tow.
  6. Start your engine and go slow as the handbrake of the other car will most likely be on and will make the process hard. Also note doing this will damage their car.
  7. Proceed to move the car out of your property but also to a spot where the owner will not have too much trouble finding it again.
  8. Prepare yourself for any repercussions moving the car will incur.

Tips

  • To stop people parking on your property place signs up which are clearly visible and to the point.
  • Place a note under the windscreen wiper letting the owner know that they are to not park on your property. Be civil and calm with the note however.
  • Be patient, don't take the law into your own hands.

Warnings

  • You may cause costly damage to your car as well as the owner's car.
  • This is not a recommended way in removing someone's car.
  • You will most likely get in trouble with the law enforcement.
