Get a Free Room in Las Vegas

Because most casinos make their money from the gambling that takes place within their walls, many are willing and able to comp rooms to their higher playing guests in order to pack their casino. In order to get a free room in Las Vegas, you either need to play big, or at least act like you are in order to be considered for one of their available rooms.

Steps

  1. Sign up for casino reward points, and get on the casino's mailing list. Many send out free and/or heavily discounted room rates to all of their contact list in order to entice you to gamble at a tournament or other special event. Sometimes even having the lowest level card can make you eligible for such deals.
  2. Use your reward card every time that you play. This will help the casino keep track of your playing and/or winnings and will help them get to know you better, from your hometown to your game type preferences.
    • Using your card is simple for slot games, and this easily tracks how much you play. Video poker seems to be the game that gives you the best chance of getting a room comped.
    • For table games, you can have the dealer ask the pit boss to rate your pay when you bring out your cash for change. Your rated play will be your average bet plus your length of pay.
  3. Gamble big when the pit boss is around your table game. You don't have to drop hundreds or thousands of dollars, but possibly play $50 that hand instead of $5 or $10.
  4. Ask the pit boss about comps after you have been playing for a while. They may start you out with drinks and a spa package, but if you play long enough and politely ask with discretion, you may get that bumped to a room comp.
  5. Stick with the older hotels or hotel chains that rely on average customers to gamble in their resorts. You will unlikely get comped as easily at a newer hotel and/or one that caters to high rollers.
  6. Make sure to book your room reservation directly through the hotel instead of a travel site. Travel sites take out a commission on the front end, and booking through the hotel shows that you intended to be at that location instead of finding the best deal.
  7. Request to speak to the host when you check out to review your play. You may not be comped a room up front, but you may be able to have the charges dropped off for a few nights or at least reduced by going over what play you gave the casino.

Tips

  • Stick with one hotel or hotel family and that way you'll have your play tracked at one location. Then you may even qualify for not only a room comp but a Room Food and Beverage (RFB) comp, otherwise known as a full comp, instead. Loyalty at a hotel is what's going to get you continued rewards.
