- First, and before you pick up a phone to dial, or knock a door, consider the following: There are just 60 minutes in every minute, and 24 hours in every day. How you value your time depends on what you will earn. Worrying about rejection will just tick away the seconds and consequently the minutes and then the hours.
- Life is too short to worry about rejection. Digest this statement and move on, fast.
- Attitude is everything. When you think with confidence your physiology and your voice completely changes. You must firmly believe that you will reach your target numbers by the end of the day. The prospect can smell fear and negativity a mile away. If you are confident - so too will your voice and body convey your message.
- Set yourself a personal target at the beginning of each day. Then break it up into hourly chunks. Make sure you achieve your hourly target. This is a variation of Parkinson's Law.
- Get past 'No'. Never fear the word No. It's never personal, so don't take it that way. There may be many reasons why the prospect may say no. Perhaps you caught them at a wrong moment, (we all know what it's like when we are busy and pre-occupied). Or maybe they just have no requirement for your product or service at the present. Just thank them and ask politely if you may call them again at a later time.
- Have a structure to your call. When you plan and structure your call, it will give you more of a professional look to your selling. Plus it keeps you on the right path. And most of all it will give you further confidence.
