Grow out Your Fringe Without It Being Annoying and in the Way
Fringes and bangs can be very fashionable. However, they can also be hard to maintain, as you need to continually straighten, blow dry and get them trimmed and styled. Plus, the covered face look only suits certain people-on others, it simply isn't worth the effort. However, waiting for fringes and the like to grow out can be irritating and get all over the place. If you need advice on how to conveniently grow out your fringe/bangs, then this article is for you.

Steps
- Keep your hair sleek and frizz free. Fringes and bangs can be even more annoying if they're poofy and frizzy. Prevent this from happening to you by washing your hair with an anti-frizz shampoo and conditioner and using an anti-frizz balm or serum. You can also rub in olive oil or hair oils to add moisture and shine, preventing dry, dull frizzy hair. If you dry your hair, always leave it a little damp to stop it drying out completely. If you want, you can blow dry or straighten your hair, but be sure to use a protective serum first.
- Pin it back. This is the most simple suggestion to getting your fringe out of the way. Simply smooth it back over your head and pin back with a clip. If you want, you can also add a headband to smooth it even more. Water, hairspray and gel will all help keep the pinned fringe in place.
- Make a Quoif (Women). If pinning your fringe back gives you the flathead look, do the exact opposite. Turn your fringe into a fashionable quiff. Brush your fringe thoroughly and dampen with water and hairspray. Pull it backwards and twist the ends of the fringe hair about three times. Then push the fringe so that it puffs out, and clip the ends back with a hairclip or bobby pin. With cautious styling, the quiff can give you a stylish look. Be sure not to make the quiff too big or small.
- Pin it to the side. This will let your fringe frame your face, creating a more feminine look. Take your fringe and brush it out thoroughly. If you've got a long fringe or side bangs, simply tuck it behind your ear and pin with a stylish clip to keep in place. If you've got a shorter fringe, sweep it to the side of your head rather than behind your ear, and pin it back that way.
- Do a french braid. Another easy and attractive suggestion is to do a french braid and include your fringe in the hairstyle. This works on long bangs or fringes. It may be a little more challenging to do with shorter fringes.
- Do a middle parting. Try splitting your fringe/bangs in half and then sweeping them to either sides of your face to create a middle parting. You can keep it in place with clear bobby pins, or leave a few strands loose to frame your face.
- Plait and pin. If you've got a longer fringe or bangs, try making a thin plait out of them, then pinning the plait to the side. You can then leave your hair loose or put it in a ponytail. This adds a stylish touch to any type of hair.
- Hide it. If all else fails, completely block out your fringe/bangs. Hats, caps, beanies, bandannas and thick headbands will help cover your hair and draw attention away from irritating fringes/bangs.
Tips
- Make sure that whatever hairstyle you do to keep your fringe away is easy and stays together during the day. Having pieces of hair fall over your face as the day goes on is not pleasant.
- Be sure you really want to grow out your fringe/bangs. Sometimes all you need is to change the style of your hair, instead of getting rid of something completely.
- For some types of hair, not all types, if you are trying to smooth out your fringe water and/or gel can cause your hair to curl instead of smooth.
- Water, gel and hairspray will all help you smooth back your fringe and keep it hidden.
- Use attention attracting clips and bands to pin your fringe back, as this will take the spotlight away from the growing hair.
- Ask your hair stylist for tips.
Warnings
- Be patient. Fringes and bangs take some time to grow back.
