Jump Start a Car With a Battery Booster
This article explains how to to jump start a car using a battery booster.
Steps
- Turn off the ignition of the vehicle (heater, lighting, etc.) before using the booster.
- If you use an SOS 12/24V Booster, verify that the tension selector is disconnected before connecting the clamps.
- Connect the red clamp (+) to the positive terminal (+)of the battery.
- Then connect the blue clamp (-) to the negative terminal (-) of the battery.
- Select the adequate tension if you have an SOS 12/24V booster.
- Start attempt of maximum 8-10 seconds. Then wait for a further 3 minutes before attempting to start again.
- Disconnect. Having started the engine, first disconnect the tension selector if you have an SOS 12/24V booster.
- First, disconnect the blue (-) clamp, followed by the red (+) clamp.
- Store. Return the cables and clamps to their support posts on the Booster.
- Recharge. Recharge the booster immediately after use.
Warnings
- Wear eye protection and gloves.
- Never connect the Booster on a vehicle 24V when it is in 12V position.
- The clamps MUST never touch a metallic surface.
- Crank the engine for a maximum 10 seconds and wait for 3 minutes between further attempts to restart the vehicle.
- The Booster must be put on charge after use.
- Verify the selected tension of the Booster and the tension of the vehicle to be started.
