Look Good in Skinny Jeans if You Are Curvy
If you have a curvy figure and want to wear skinny jeans, it can feel challenging. However, it is possible to carry off this look well. Here are a few tips to help you rock your "skinny jeans" look.
Steps
- Choose your tops carefully. To lengthen your look overall, wear clothes that flatter (or create) a sleek, hourglass figure.
- Look for small, dark prints.
- Try a v-neck with an empire waistline or a fitted shirt with a boat-neck.
- Try a long, loose, silky blouse, a fitted blouse or a wrapped blouse to accentuate and thin your waistline.
- A great look for a curvy figure with tight jeans is a tight and very long undershirt (not tucked in) with another shorter but baggier shirt on top.
- Try a long sweater jacket to lengthen the line of your silhouette. This can also play it down if you "got back" :).
- Choose accessories and undergarments carefully.
- This is important: wear a supportive bra to lift your breasts. Adjust your straps correctly; your breasts should end at or above your elbow if you touch your temple. (If you are petite, you might need a racer back and/or a bra that allows adjustment along the entire strap. If necessary, tie together the two straps in the back to create a racer-back bra so that your breasts lift up and lengthen your silhouette.)
- Wear dangling earrings, a long necklace or scarf.
- Wear high heels, either in nude or the same color as your jeans.
- If you're dressing down, wear high-heeled sneakers.
- Choose your jeans carefully. They should feel comfortable, make your behind look good and not appear out of fashion.
- Try stretch jeans for greater comfort and a sleeker line.
- Remember that dark colors are slimming.
- Do not cuff your jeans.
- Do not wear jeans that have a lot of embellishments. If wearing ripped jeans, there should only be one or two rips.
- Skinny jeans that are baggy are not skinny jeans. If they are too big, they are going to make you look bigger. Skinny jeans are just that: tight.
- The best skinny jeans optimize your figure and do your figure favors with the smart placement of stitching, simple and highly placed pockets and the use of supporting fabric that isn't too thick.
- Make sure to bend over when trying on your jeans. If your behind peeks out of the pair you have to wear, then make sure to compensate with a long top that covers this.
- Most of all, avoid "mom jeans". If you don't know what those are, you need to find out right away.
Tips
- Be confident in yourself and love your curves!
- Remember, some women simply don't wear jeans because they are not comfortable in them. Wear what you feel great in. Switching to all dresses will make you feel more feminine and comfortable if you have a curvy figure and feel uncomfortable in pants. If you want to wear jeans, great - do it!
- Look at pictures online of models and stars in jeans to get ideas for outfits.
