Make Big Anime Cat Girl Feet for a Cosplay
Do you want to know how to make cat feet that can go along with an anime cosplay cat costume? With some foam and a little bit of sewing, you can add a finishing touch and emulate your favorite character from head to toe.
Steps
- Draw what you want the sole of your foot to look like on the plastic canvas. In this case you'll need them wide and fat, so extend them on either side and add the toes at the front.
- Repeat for the other slipper and cut both out.
- Glue to the sole of the slipper.
- Fill the shape with poly foam. Cut out pieces of polyfoam and glue them to fill in the sides of the slippers where the canvas extends beyond the slipper.
- Add another layer to round out the top. Glue it in place.
- Carve it into a round shape. You can use scissors for doing this, or you can buy a tool for cutting foam.
- If, as you're cutting and shaping the toes, you accidentally cut off too much and make them look blocky, fill in the gaps with batting.
- Cut out the fabric. Experiment with something cheap that you don't mind throwing away until you get a shape that will fit around your foot. Use the image as a guide for the desired shape. If the fabric is only 2 way stretch, make sure you cut it so it stretches horizontally.
- Sew the edges together as shown. When you cut it out and fold it in half it should be similar to this. Sew the edges together, forming a tube of sorts. You will also need to sew elastic casing on the narrow end so that it doesn't slip down when you're wearing it. Put it on your foot while you're wearing the slipper.
- Cut another piece of fabric to serve as the "sole" of your feet. Pin it to the sock you made in the previous step. This image shows a white fabric being pinned for demonstration purposes, but yours should be the same color as your sock.
- Remove the sock carefully and flip it inside out. Sew on the sole and flip back right side out.
- You can add a bias tape elastic casing to the top, necessary to keep it from slipping down.
- Pull it back over the slipper.
- Take the embroidery thread (in the same color as your fabric) and a big needle, and, using several stitches, tack down the fabric to the plastic canvas. Otherwise it will slide around.
- Define the toes. Use embroidery thread to pinch the fabric in place and tie it underneath.
- Define them even more by gluing a thin stripe of felt between the toes.
- Add any other detailing, like spots, stripes, bows; whatever your character requires. Just cut them out of felt and glue them on.
- Take the black foam and cut out a sole for the bottom of the foot. It will keep your fabric from getting dirty and provide a grip so you don't slide around on floors. It's recommended that you use the thickest craft foam you can find.
- Glue it to the bottom and make sure it doesn't stick out from the sides.
- Enjoy your self-made cat feet!
Things You'll Need
- Poly foam
- Plain house slippers

- 3mm black craft foam
- Felt (for the stripes detailing)
- Yellow embroidery thread (you'll need it in the color of your main fabric)
- Fabric you'll be covering the feet in. It's not recommended that you use felt, because it's not durable enough. You can use other fabrics, such as fur, depending on the look that you want.
- Scrap fabric to practice on.
- Embroidery thread in the same color as your fabric.
- Glue of your choice
- 3/4" wide elastic
- Quilt batting (optional)
