Make Fake Rings Under Your Eyes

It only takes a few minutes to make fake rings under your eyes, whether you're using eyeliner or cocoa powder. This is the perfect trick for a ghoulish Halloween costume, or just for spooking your friends because you feel like it.

Steps

Marker Method

  1. Get a black marker; preferably washable.
  2. Draw a rather large smudge on one of your fingers. Make it big, but not very thick.
  3. Take another finger on the opposite hand. Rub that on your smudged finger.
  4. Apply the marker to below your eyes carefully. Start at the inside corners of your eyes and work the mark down and out slightly.
  5. Add a much lighter bit. Start from the outside edge down toward the first mark if you want a more extreme effect, or for darker lighting.

Cocoa Powder Method

  1. Get some cocoa powder.
  2. Put some on your finger, and rub it in lightly.
  3. Do this again, so it is layered. Also try to get the bit closest to the eye darker.

Eyeliner Method

  1. Scribble with some black/dark brown eyeliner on your finger.
  2. Smudge it under your eyes, darker towards the bridge of your nose.
  3. Add purple or blue lightly over it. This will make it look more bruised (if you want that look).

Tips

  • Use washable marker instead of permanent marker, unless you really want to look that way for weeks.
  • Take your time, rushing it won't make it look good!
  • Try to make sure your fingers are in the right spot before you slather yourself in marker.
  • Apply in front of a mirror, that way you can see if you accidentally get any smudges.
  • Don't make the smudges too dark to make them look more realistic.

Warnings

  • Make sure that you do not get it in your eyes!
  • Be careful! If you get it all over your face, it's hard to get off.
  • Don't leave the smudge on your finger or people will notice it... and your cover will be blown.
  • Don't make the smudge on your finger too thick, or it looks totally fake.
