Make Fizzy Salts
Fizzy salts are a kind of a mixture of bath salts and bath bombs, resulting in the texture of bath salts and the fizzing of bath bombs. They're the ultimate in bathing fun, as well as being easy and inexpensive to make. Also, if you have bored kids, they'll not only enjoy making these fizzy salts, but will enjoy bathing in them as well.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of Epsom salts
- 1 cup of sea salt
- 1 cup of baking soda (sifted)
- 1/2 cup of citric acid
- Food color of your choice
- 1 tablespoon skin safe fragrance oil of choice
Steps
- Mix the Epsom salts, sea salt and baking soda together well.
- Add a few drops of food color for desired color. Mix well.
- Add 1 tablespoon of skin safe fragrance oil. Mix well.
- Add 1/2 cup of citric acid. Mix well.
- Use a funnel to pour the fizzy salts mixture in a jar or container.
- Seal the jar or container. Decorate as desired. If giving away as a gift, add a label explaining what they are and how to use them.
- Use in warm water to get the maximum fizz.
Tips
- You can find citric acid at hobby stores, pharmacies and also online. It is sometimes also in the baking section of the supermarket.
- Make sure the baking soda is sifted. Baking soda tends to clump if not sifted.
- You may hear a popping noise when jar unsealed from the citric acid. This is normal, don't worry.
- These make great gifts for people who enjoy soaking in the bath.
