Make Oven French Toast


Here's an easy way to make French toast for a large group of people. Firm bread slices are cooked in melted margarine, scented with spicy cinnamon, and given a citrus flavor with a dash of orange juice.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup orange juice, you don't have to use orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange rind, if desired
  • 8 slices firm bread

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}}.
  2. Melt margarine in two 9-inch square baking pans.
  3. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over margarine.
  4. Mix eggs, salt, orange juice and orange rind, if used.
  5. Dip each side of bread into mixture.
  6. Place close together in prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes.
  8. Turn and bake 5 minutes more or until desired doneness.
  9. Finished.

Tips

  • French toast may also be cooked on a griddle or frying pan. Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on the cooked French toast, if cooking on the range.
