Make Paper Mache Flowers
Paper Mache is great for all kinds of projects. Paper mache flowers can add a nice touch to your patio or be used for a decoration at a Spring-Themed party. Create some flowers today
Steps
- Gather some scrap cardboard. Thick cardboard works best
- Draw a large leaf shape. Cut it out using and Exacto Knife or Scissors
- On a separate piece of cardboard draw and cut individual flowers petals. 3-4 works best. Make them large enough to hang slightly over the edge of the leaf
- Using a Hot Glue Gun position and stick the petals onto the leaf shape. The petals should all join in the middle.
- Mix some paper mache paste using Flour,Water and Salt. Add a squirt of white glue as it will make the paste stronger
- Rip some Paper Towel or Kitchen Towel into small squares. Paper Towel makes a nicer finish one the flower is done
- Paper mache the flower with 2 layers. One side at a time. This ensures even drying
- Once dried gather some acrylic paints. Paint your flowers to your hearts desire. Allow the paint to dry
- Seal your flowers using regular varnish. For outdoor use apply marine varnish
- Decorate with sequins or Hot Glue a pom-pom to the centre of the flower
- Finished!
Tips
- Bright colors are very attractive
- Experiment with different patterns like polka dots or stripes
- Sequins and pom-poms can be purchased at Craft stores or Hobby shops

- Hot Glue can cause burns
- Use caution when using Exacto Knives and Sharp Scissors
