Make Your Own Death Note Notebook

One of the most popular and successful Manga of all time, Death Note is both incredibly sought-after on the Internet as well as pretty expensive. We can't all afford one. If you want to make your own fan version, you can do it with the right costume, and impress your friends without having to break the bank.

Steps

  1. Get a small hardcover notebook, about 7.2 x 10.1 inches in size. A regular composition marble notebook works well for this purpose.
  2. Get some black paint/paper and silver paint/pen. A 4.oz bottle of paint will cost around a dollar.
  3. Coat the book in the black paint evenly and let it sit to dry. Or cover with black paper if you've opted for this method.
  4. Take your silver paint/pen and carefully write "Death Note" on the front, in the same style that they have it in the Anime. You can also print out the Death Note logo that's on the notebook in the anime. Simply do a Google image search for 'death note logo', print out the image, and glue it in. Wait until the paint or the glue dries.
  5. If you want, you can also Google image search 'death note instructions' for the instructions found in the notebook. Bring the desired image into an image editor of your choice, re-size it to fit into your notebook, and print it.
  6. Glue the instructions into your new Death Note.

Tips

  • Try to get rid of paint lines and try not to get it on the actual paper.
  • If you want, you can just buy a black notebook instead of painting one.
  • To avoid paint lines, you can also use black spray paint for a flawless finish.
  • If you have white card paper, you can use that for the cover too. Just bind it with string and either black electrical tape or spray paint medical tape black.
  • You can also use White Out if you're on a tight budget or time.
  • Do not take this to school. If you're in China, remember it's illegal there. There are many cases of children being arrested for possessing a Death Note.
  • Use tape letters if possible. Put the "Death Note" letters on the cover with tape, then paint over the cover with black. Remove the tape. It looks great!
  • At certain stores or online you can buy a Death Note Notebook if you cannot make one.
  • Use the book as an address book - why can't you have fun when sharing numbers with one another?

Warnings

  • Do not take these into school or you will get into trouble because people will think it's a list of people you wish to kill. Teachers and principals are uneducated when it comes to anime, but if the school staff knows you well enough to know it's a misunderstanding, then you'll probably be suspended for only a couple days.
  • This is not guaranteed to work as an actual Death Note, given the fact that no Shinigami have ever touched it. A deal with, say, Lucifer might enable actual powers to be used. However, you would lose your soul in the process.
  • Do not let any of your slime-breathed lilliputian friends borrow or take your book, especially if you break the first warning. You will probably get the book back with other kids' names from your school. A very bad idea, considering you'll most likely get caught with it and it's not going to look pretty if you have an actual name list in there.
  • Be sure to use it wisely. Not everyone is smart enough to understand the power that the death note possesses so take that into consideration!
