Make a Honey Face Mask

Honey is highly moisturizing on the skin. It reduces inflammation and swelling so it's perfect for dark circles/puffy eyes. It gently cleanses your skin and kills germs. With a few extra ingredients, honey can become the essential part of a great face mask. Try it out now!

Ingredients

  • Required ingredients:
    • Honey
    • Yoghurt
    • Rose water or tap water
  • Optional Ingredients
    • Essential oils
    • Oatmeal
    • Sugar
    • Lemon juice
    • Fresh fruit
    • Baby oil
    • Cooled green tea
    • Cucumber slices
    • Teabags
    • Apple cider vinegar

Steps

  1. Take about 1/2 cup of honey, any kind will do, and put it in a small bowl.
  2. Add the same amount of yoghurt as honey. Yoghurt is great for soothing and nourishing the skin.
  3. Add in a few drops of essential oils, such as lavender or rose. Or to make the mask more of a facial wash, add a teaspoon or two of rose water or tap water.
  4. Mix all the ingredients together.
  5. Apply generous amounts of the mixture to the skin on your face using your fingertips or a clean foundation brush, staying away from your eyes and lips.
  6. Leave the natural mask on for 10-15 minutes. Remove with warm water and a washcloth.
  7. Apply moisturiser while the skin is still wet to lock in moisture.
  8. Your skin should look and feel moisturized, soothed, nourished, clean, and beautifully radiant. All this from just a couple of ingredients that can be found in your kitchen!

Tips

  • To make the face mask more cooling and refreshing, pop the mixture in the fridge for a few minutes.
  • If this mask is not used as an exfoliating mask, but as a moisturizing one, it can be massaged into the skin to increase blood circulation to the skin on your face and really let the healthy natural ingredients soak in. But don't forget to rinse it all off thoroughly after!
  • While your face mask is on, pop a couple of cucumber slices or teabags over your eyes to reduce puffiness and swelling. This will make it all seem like a real spa facial!
  • Face masks are best applied to skin after cleansing and toning.
  • Face masks can be used once a week, and should be the last part of your skin routine, apart from moisturizing.
  • Even though this mask is best used as a weekly treat, honey can be applied to the skin on its own as a quick cleansing moisturizer daily, using a cotton pad.
  • Many fruits are rich in vitamins, and some with seeds (like strawberries and kiwi fruits) can be used as a natural exfoliator when added to the mixture.
  • Before applying to the face, you can add other ingredients too, such as:
    • Oatmeal
    • Sugar
    • Banana
    • A few drops of lemon juice
    • A teaspoon of apple cider vinegar
    • Strawberries
    • Kiwi
    • Cooled green tea
    • Baby oil
    • Tree oils (such as argan)

Warnings

  • Don't make or use this mask if you are allergic to any of the ingredients
  • Don't leave on for too long or you will dry out your skin.
  • When applying, avoid lips and eyes.
