Make a New File in Windows
There are many ways to create a file on your computer. Microsoft Windows since Windows 95 has offered a way to create a blank file, without having to open any separate application, by using the context menu of Windows Explorer.
Steps
- Navigate to the folder or desktop, you would like to create your file. For example, My Documents.
- Right click an empty section of the folder window or desktop.
- Select "New" from the context menu.
- Select the type of file you'd like to create.
- Enter a name for the newly created file.
- Open the new file to edit it.
