Make a Ribbon Bouquet for a Wedding Rehearsal
Ribbon bouquets can be crazy for a traditional toilet-paper clothed bride and groom bridal shower embarrassment, or they can be an inexpensive and fun prop to use during the wedding rehearsal.
Steps
- During the bridal shower collect all the ribbons and bows from the bride's gifts as she opens them.
- Use a sturdy paper plate as a base if this is "just for kicks". If your bouquet is meant for a rehearsal, use an inexpensive plastic bouquet base. Check your favorite craft store or department.
- Use packing tape to stick the largest bows to the center of the base.
- Use tape to stick the mid-sized bows around the large bows.
- Tape on the tiny bows, filling gaps in the arrangement. To make it really pretty, you can cascade a few bows down long ribbons from the bottom of your base, creating an upside-down teardrop.
- Tape the prettiest long ribbons to the back of the base where you have intended the bottom of the bouquet to be.
- Finished.
Tips
- If you're going for a super-fancy bouquet and you want it to look pretty, advise guests in your invitation to wrap their gifts using the wedding colors, or buy a selection of bows and ribbon in the color(s) you want. Otherwise, if this bouquet is just for fun, let it be whatever wild assortment of colors show up on the gifts. This bouquet may show up in a couple of rehearsal photos, but it's not the main event and there's really no need to overdo it.
- If you end up with gaps in your bouquet, fill them with bows tied from pieces of the long ribbons.
- To make a handle for a paper plate bouquet, tape a twisted napkin to the back center of the plate.
