Make a Skateboard Swing

Here's a fantastic way to repurpose an old broken skateboard. Build this skateboard swing for your kids to enjoy!

Steps

  1. Find an old skateboard that your kids no longer use.
  2. Discard all the wheels.
  3. Scrape all decals with a wire brush.
  4. Grab sandpaper and sand it out.
  5. Paint it to your liking.
  6. Allow paint to dry.
  7. Using the four holes (where the wheels were screwed) as a guide, mark where you intend to drill the holes for the rope.
  8. Drill two holes between the four holes of the board.
  9. Cut two dowels with the same width as the skateboard. These will serve as handles.
  10. Place the dowels on top of the board where you made your holes. Use it as a guide and mark where you will be making the holes.
  11. Drill two holes.
  12. Cut two rope lengths into {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} each.
  13. Insert the rope in the holes you drilled.
  14. Tie a knot to keep the rope in place.
  15. Measure the handles' height. It should be somewhere between the child’s waist and shoulder for them to be able to use them to swing.
  16. Tie another knot for the dowels.
  17. Insert the dowels. Now your swing has handles.
  18. Tie it securely and let it hang on a tree.
  19. Let your child play with it and have fun!
