Make a Slippery Nipple Layered Shooter

A Slippery Nipple is a layered shooter (or shot) that is made by first layering Baileys Irish Cream over Sambuca. Less Baileys is used then Sambuca because a thin layer of Baileys is created over the Sambuca. Then a drop of grenadine is dripped onto the layer of Baileys, creating a red indentation in the layer of Baileys that looks like a nipple.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 oz (22.5 mL) Sambuca
  • 1/4 oz (7.5 mL) Baileys Irish Cream
  • Drop grenadine

Steps

  1. Set a shot glass or cordial glass on a table.
    • Estimate the capacity (volume) the shot glass or cordial glass. This can be done by eye or with measuring cups. The Sambuca will take up a about three-fourths of the glass, and the Baileys Irish Cream will take up about one fourth of the glass. The grenadine will take up a negligible amount of the glass. You don't want to overfill the glass, so leave a little extra space.
  2. Pour the Sambuca directly into the glass so that it fills up a little less than three-fourths of the glass.
  3. Using the technique described in the article Make Layered Shots, layer the Baileys Irish Cream over the Sambuca.
  4. Drip one single drop of grenadine onto the center of the top of the layer of Baileys Irish Cream. This can be done by pouring just a little bit of grenadine into a small measuring cup (such as a jigger) and, while holding the cup a few inches or more above the top of the cordial or shot glass, drip the grenadine onto the Baileys. The grenadine needs to pick up a little speed on its may down to the Baileys so that it can impact the layer of Baileys and form the nipple shape.
  5. Serve the drink.

Tips

  • Instead of the drop of grenadine, a cherry can be used.
  • Make the drink in the audience of others. The preparation of this drink is as neat as the drink itself.

Warnings

  • Drink alcoholic beverages responsibly.
