Make a Vanilla Bean Milkshake

The classic milkshake has always been vanilla flavored. Still much beloved, it's easy to make a tasty vanilla bean shake at home. Choose one of these options to suit your tastes.

Ingredients

Method 1:

  • 1 cup vanilla bean ice cream
  • 1/2 a cup of milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract/essence

Method 2:

  • 1 quart vanilla bean ice cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 vanilla bean

Method 3:

  • 1 tbsp vanilla Coffee Mate
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract/essence
  • Touch of sugar
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup milk
  • Ice cubes

Steps

Ice cream vanilla shake

  1. Scoop ice cream from the container and put it in a blender.
  2. Add milk to the blender.
  3. Add tablespoon vanilla extract.
  4. Blend ingredients together until you get a smooth mixture.
  5. Pour it into glasses and serve.
  6. Finished.

Real vanilla bean shake

  1. Halve the vanilla bean lengthwise.
  2. Add the ice cream to the blender. Pour in the milk too.
  3. Using the tip of a knife, scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean into the blender.
  4. Blend. Keep blending until well combined and smooth.
  5. Pour into glasses for serving. Chilled glasses are best, but not essential.
  6. Serve. Add a straw and it's good to go.

Vanilla Coffee Mate shake

  1. Pour the vanilla Coffee Mate and extract into the blender.
  2. Add a touch of sugar. As much as you prefer.
  3. Add the ice cubes.
  4. Pour in the milk.
  5. Blend. Blend until all ingredients are combined and the top is frothy.
  6. Pour into a serving glass. Sprinkle nutmeg on top (optional).
  7. Serve. Pop a straw in and the drink is ready to go.

Tips

  • If you wish to make it a colder drink, add some ice cubes into the blender, but be sure that you blend until you don't hear any cubes.
  • Watch how much milk you pour into the blender.
  • To give your milkshake more flavor add fresh fruit like bananas or various berries.
