Make a Worry Doll
Worry dolls are a common feature of some South American cultures. Here is an easy way to make your own.
Steps
- Get a thin wooden stick/toothpick/ or wire about {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} long.
- Get a short piece of string that is a skin tone color and wrap it around the stick or wire completely
- Burn the very top to make it look darker. This will make the hair.
- Get a bright colored piece of yarn. Wrap it tightly around the middle (for a shirt).
- Get a small piece of fabric and wrap it around the bottom. This creates a long skirt. Glue this to keep everything in place.
- Unburden using your worry doll. At night whisper your worries to it, put it under your pillow, and when you awaken hopefully they will be gone!
Tips
- Usually it's better if you make more than one and put them in a little box on your night stand.
Warnings
- If the worries don't go away, then face them. The dolls are merely a focal point for dealing with the issue, not a means for burying your head.
