Make the Crepe Paper Flowerlets to Cover a Pinata
Creating crepe paper flowerlets for a piñata is "smashing" fun and super easy!
Contents
Steps
- Cut (or tear) 2" x 2" (5 cm x 5 cm) pieces of crepe paper. This is an approximate size.
- Place the eraser end of a pencil in the center of each piece of paper. Twist the paper around the eraser.
- Add the glue carefully. While holding the twisted piece of paper onto the eraser end of the pencil, dip it into a very thin layer of basic craft glue. Remember, just a small dab will do.
- Add to the piñata. Using the pencil still, place the twisted, glued piece of crepe paper in the desired spot on your piñata. Repeat as many times as needed in order to cover the whole piñata.
- Set aside to dry. Once your piñata is completely covered, let it dry overnight.
- Use as needed.
Tips
- For smaller flowerets, the same steps can be applied using something smaller than a pencil. For example, you could try the flat end of a bamboo chopstick or a small nail file.
- If glue gets on you or your work space, dampen the surface with water and try using olive oil or other nonstick substances to remove it.
Warnings
- Have a box of tissues close at hand for the moment when you see your labor of love being smashed to bits for the sake of another's enjoyment!
