Obtain Two Part Time Jobs Close by to Each Other

Working multiple jobs is no easy feat. For convenience's sake, it is often easiest to have jobs located in a close vicinity to one other. Accomplishing that, however, may be no easy feat either. By employing the following tips, you will be well on your way to doing just that.

Steps

  1. Do your research. If you are looking for multiple part-time jobs and would like them to be close to one another it is best to start by first researching what areas close to you have a high volume of jobs available. Such places may include indoor malls, strip malls, office parks, etc. Use Google Maps to create a spreadsheet of areas that are most likely to have jobs available in a close vicinity to one another. Make sure to include any relevant information on each place of business including its name, contact information, address and phone number.
  2. Start reaching out. After you have created your list, set aside a morning to start making phone calls. While stopping by with your resume to introduce yourself may seem more personal, it may not be the best way to begin contact with a future employer. Calling first will allow you to get more information on what positions are available and what the preferred way of applying to them is.
  3. Get your resumes and cover letters in order. Once you have a list of businesses that are looking to hire and how to apply for them - get started! Make sure your resume is professional and you have cover letters tailored specifically to each business - generic may be easy but personal is memorable.
  4. Follow up. After you have submitted your resume and cover letter to each employer, give them a full 3 - 5 business days to look over your materials. After that, give them a follow up phone call to see if they would like to schedule a time to speak with you. Briefly explain to them how your experience will benefit them and what you can bring to their business to ultimately improve it.

Tips

  • If you are looking for jobs close to one another, make sure they are with businesses that do not compete with each other. Employers almost always discourage an employee working for a competitor.
  • Working at a mall? Visit their website or office - they may be able to help you find another job located in the very same building.
  • Network! It never hurts to ask around. Just remember, if you are not willing to leave one job - make it clear that you are only looking to supplement your income with a second position.
