Paint Your Nails With Comic Strips

Perhaps you've already tried "painting" your nails with newspaper and you're aware of how cool it looks. But there's something even cooler – and that's adding comic strips to your nails. It's as easy as the technique used for newspaper and the result is just perfect for the next comic convention!

Steps

  1. Groom your nails. File them, clip them, make them look spiffy. This adds to appearance when you put the comic strip on your nails.
  2. Paint your nails with your usual base coat. This will protect your nails and forms a smooth layer for application of the comic strips.
  3. Paint your nails with a white or light grey color. You can use either color, but using a grey will leave you with more of a newspaper touch, and white makes the colors really stand out.
  4. Get rubbing alcohol. You will use this to get the ink from the comic strip to your nails.
  5. Dip a sheet of comic strip in the rubbing alcohol. Soak each side of the sheet in the alcohol for about 3 seconds each.
  6. Find the exact image you want to have on your nails. Place this particular image on your nails, hold it there without moving for about 10 seconds. The longer you hold the image onto your fingernail, the more it will show up, so it's a good idea to be comfortably seated for this step. When you think it has been in place long enough, carefully peel it off so as not to smudge the image.
  7. Create Dice Nail Art. The topcoat will help the ink to stay on your nails longer; otherwise it risks being rubbed off as a result of your daily activities. It will also give your fingernails an all over Give Hair a Mirror Shine, and a more finished look.
  8. Finished! Go show off your amazing nail art to your friends! Watch them be amazed and be ready to help them do their nails too.

Tips

  • Don't let the comic strip move or else it will smudge everything.
  • If you're patient, you could be really clever and try to paint on an entire comic strip across each of your nails!
  • It might help to have a friend assist with the positioning of the comic images; that will depend on what you're using and how shaky you tend to be. It's also easier for someone else to place them on your dominant hand since you'd be doing it with your non-dominant hand otherwise.

Warnings

  • Be patient in between coats and allow the nails to dry properly, otherwise you risk smudging the designs.
