Paint Your Nails the Scene Way

Want gorgeous nails fit for a scene queen? Read on the find out how you can have the nails of your dreams.

Steps

  1. Apply a base coat. Make the coat quite thin, but thick enough for it to protect your nails. If you do not have a base coat handy, this step may be omitted.
  2. Apply the base colour. The base colour is the main or background colour. Apply one coat, wait a couple of minutes then apply another to make the colour strong and vivid.
  3. Apply the decoration or second colour. Great scene looks are:

    • Half and Half: Paint the top half of your nail a dark colour and paint the other half a complementing or contrasting colour. . black and pink, grey and lime green or navy and light blue.
    • Spots: They look great in a line across the nail, in a three in top corner or in black and red like a ladybug.
    • Odd one Out: Apply a contrasting colour to your little fingers. eg. black on most nails and red on the last nails.
    • Opposites: Apply one colour to one hand, and a different color on another hand.
    • Checkers: Paint your nails a light color, wait till it dries then, take a sharpie and checker them.
    • Rhinestones:While your nails are still wet, carefully use a cocktail stick to place some diamonds or sequins on your nails. They will stick to the wet polish.
    • Spots:Use a bright colour over another colour (dark base colour recommended)and use the brush to dot on your nail.Place as many dots on your nail as your like.
    • One Colour. Block colours are great if your clothes are patterned and you just wanted a simple look. Good colours are black, navy, dark purple, lime green, bright orange and hot pink.

  4. Apply a clear top coat to help prevent chipping and give your nails a shiny finish.

Tips

  • Use tape when doing half/half nails, this way you have a straight line.
  • Get someone else to paint the hand you write with or if you can, do it yourself.
  • Always use a base coat when applying dark colours.
  • Remove old nail varnish when chipped or applying a new coat.

Warnings

  • Don't drink nail varnish remover or get it in your eyes. Wash your hands with soap after using it if you want to touch your eyes.
  • Nails don't really make you scene, so don't go boasting that you're a scene kid just because you painted your nails a certain way.
  • Don't say that you're scene.
