Prepare Lemon Tea

The following recipes for black, herbal or iced lemon teas can bring refreshment when hot or warm you when you're not feeling best. Adding lemon to tea is a comforting way to enjoy tea, whether it's black tea or herbal.

Ingredients

  • Lemon black tea (for 6)
    • 1 tablespoon black tea leaves or 2 teabags
    • 1 lemon, sliced thinly
    • 2 cinnamon sticks
    • 2 tablespoons caster/superfine sugar (or stevia equivalent)
    • 6 cups boiling water
    • Extra lemon slices for garnish (optional)
  • Lemon and water "tea"
    • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
    • 1 cup water
    • Sweetener (sugar, stevia, etc.)
  • Lemon iced tea
    • Tea leaves (you choose the type)
    • 1 lemon
    • Ice cubes that have been made from lemon tea
    • Hot water
    • Sugar
  • Boiled lemon iced tea
    • 3 slices of lemon
    • 2 teabags (black tea)
    • Small pot
    • Hot water
    • Ice

Steps

Lemon black tea

  1. Set out a large teapot. A tea plunger can be used instead, if preferred. Just ensure that it is large enough for the six servings.
  2. Add the tea leaves or teabags to the teapot. Stir around a little, then add the lemon slices and sugar. The sugar can be adjusted to taste, depending on how sweet or not you prefer the tea.
    • If wished, you can add one to two sticks of cinnamon at this stage. This is optional but it does add a nice spicy taste.
  3. Pour the water into the teapot. Pour it over the top of the ingredients already placed inside.
  4. Set aside to steep. Leave for five minutes.
  5. Pour the tea through a tea strainer into cups, mugs or glasses. It should serve five to six.
  6. Garnish with additional lemon slices before serving. Although optional, this adds a neat touch.
  7. Serve immediately for a hot drink. If serving cold, allow to cool thoroughly in the teapot, then transfer to the fridge for chilling.

Lemon and water "tea"

Although not "tea" in the real sense of the word, this is a pleasant warm drink that you'd consume in the same manner as tea.

  1. Boil the water. Boil the water in a kettle or over the stovetop.
    • To boil over the stovetop, pour water into a pan. Turn the stove to medium high to heat the water. Once the water begins the boil, take it off the heat.
  2. Add lemon juice. Add two tablespoons of lemon juice to the hot water. Either use freshly squeezed lemon or store-bought lemon juice. The lemon brings lots of health benefits to this tea.
  3. Add sweetener. Put in two tablespoons, or change that up according to your liking. This sweetens the drink, it provides no health benefit.
    • While the amount of sugar suggested is about 2 tablespoons, you can adjust to preference.
    • Adjust to make it to your liking. To sweeten out the lemon tea you could add any alternative sweeteners like honey or stevia.
  4. Finished.

Lemon iced tea

  1. Boil a jug of water.
  2. Place the tea leaves inside a tea ball, to prevent them from floating everywhere. Add the tea leaves inside the ball to the boiled water. Leave for 10 to 15 minutes until the tea is mixed in thoroughly and deeply.
  3. Squeeze some fresh lemons. Pour the juice straight into the tea.
  4. Stir well. Then remove the tea leaves in the tea ball from the water.
  5. Add a cup of sugar (the amount depends on your taste and the quantity of water).
  6. Stir well. Allow to completely cool.
  7. Pour the lemon tea into a glass. Put some ice cubes in it.
  8. Serve with snacks. Cookies and cake slices go well with this.

Boiled lemon iced tea

  1. Take 300 ml of boiling water and put it in a pot.
  2. Turn on the heat to high.
  3. Add two teabags to the boiling water.
  4. Let the teabags soak in the water for a minute or so.
  5. Take out the teabags and add sugar (it depends on how sweet you want it).
  6. Stir the sugar until it dissolves.
  7. Turn down the heat to medium. Cover it with a lid.
  8. Grab a cup that is 500-550ml in size. Fill the cup halfway with ice.
  9. Bring the water to a boil. Add the lemon slices.
  10. Let it boil for 1 minute. Remove from the heat. Allow to cool completely.
  11. Pour the mixture into an ice filled cup. Serve immediately.
