Prepare for Golf

Many people do not stretch and exercise properly before playing golf. Here are a few easy indoor or outdoor stretches you can do to knock off those dreaded strokes.

Steps

Exercise 1

  1. Find a comfortable spot to lie down, and lift both your legs in the air.
  2. Make an "L" shape with your legs from your buttocks to your feet.
  3. Let one leg rest on the other for 30 seconds or longer. Do the same for the other leg. This will really build up the muscles in your legs.

Exercise 2

  1. Take a few practice swings with an old golf club.
  2. Take one hand off of the club and make your full swing. Do this quite a few times. This will really help build up one specific arm. Do this with your opposite hand (i.e. if you're right handed, do it with your left hand).

Tips

  • Try to run a mile or two a day, and do some light weightlifting.
  • Nutrition is a very vital thing for golfers. If you eat healthy foods such as meat, vegetables, and fruits you will improve in your golf game. Protein can help build up the muscle in your body.
  • You need to maintain a certain level of fitness to be able to play consistently throughout an entire game of golf.

Warnings

  • Try not to lift very heavy things. This could ruin your back and ruin your golf game. Stay away from the fatty foods, too.
