Steps
- Check out the scene. Police will want to have witnesses, and you want to get as much information as possible. Try taking some pictures, if you have a camera or mobile phone with you.
- Try to offer help. If the drivers in the accident look nervous or frantic, offer to call the police or invite them in until they get there. If they say no, it means no. You don't want to push it, or else they will get even more upset and stressed.
- Tell the police what happened when they arrive. They will want to know the story from both drivers' viewpoint, and a witness.
Tips
- Offer both drivers a ride home. One might have to have their car towed, and no way to get home.
- Don't panic. It's just an accident, and be relieved no one got hurt, if no one did.
Warnings
- Someone might get hurt. Don't be afraid, just know an ambulance will help that person.
- Don't leave, It is a crime to leave the scene of the accident.
