Read Regression Analysis Summary in Excel

Regression analysis is a useful tool for determining whether two variables are linearly related. Once you have run the regression in Excel, you have a lot of data, but how do you read it?

Steps

1. Find the intercept. In the picture above, it is cell B17 - 12,226.92.
2. Find the slope. In the picture above, it is cell B18 - 1,833.016.
3. Create your equation using these two values. Using the values above:
   Y = 12,226.92 + 1,833.016X
4. Find the Adjusted R Square value. This is the percentage measurement of goodness of fit. The higher this value, the more accurate your equation is. In the picture above, it is cell B6 - approx 60%.
