Repair Flip Flops
Unfortunately, the weak link in any flip flop is the small rubber peg that goes between the big toe and the second toe; it is prone to pulling out of the sole and tearing the opening. Once that happens, the flip flop won’t stay on your foot. The following quick-fix solutions will work for a limited amount of time, depending on wear and tear.

Steps
Use a Bread Clip
- Attach a plastic bread clip to the stem underneath the sole.
- Push the peg through the hole. Apply a dab of super strength glue to it.
- Pull the peg back up tight against the sole. Let it dry before you try wearing them again.
Use a Plastic Bag
This method is handy if you happen to break a flip flop while you're out and about; plastic bags can usually be easily sourced.
- Tightly twist the handles of a small plastic bag together.
- Create a small opening in the twisted ends and loop it around the toe peg.
- Tightly twist the remainder of the bag together. Twist until it is small enough to fit through the toe hole.
- Insert this twisted end through the hole. Pull the toe peg through until it is snug.
- Tie one or two small knots in the bag end that is remaining on the underside.
- Snip off any excess piece of bag with scissors.
- Finished.
Staple It
- Stick the broken end back through the hole until it is protruding.
- Fold it so there is enough room for fixing.
- Staple the flip flop on this protruding part, so the sharp ends of the staple go through the broken end.
- Repeat the previous step as necessary to ensure that it doesn't break again.
- This is helpful if you happen to break off the end of the flip flop when you're in class.
Tips
- To extend the life of your flip flops, try not to let the flip flop bend in the middle; this means not pressing it as if you were standing on tiptoe. Doing this weakens them.
- Don't walk on the sides and try not to run in them a lot!
- If they are a good and expensive pair of designer flip flops, consider taking them to a professional shoe repair shop for proper repair.
Warnings
- Wear latex gloves when using super strength glue and be sure the glue is thoroughly dry before wearing the shoe again after repair.
