Tips
- If you are using a Netgear model that is not mentioned in this article, you will need to reload the router's firmware to reset the router. Consult with your router's manual for specific instructions on reloading the firmware for your model, or locate the latest firmware at Netgear's website, which is provided to you in the Sources section of this article.
- Obtain the username, password, and any other information you need for the router from your internet service provider prior to resetting the Netgear router. Resetting the router will return the device back to its original state, and will erase the username and password for your internet service provider, all internet protocol (IP) addresses and wireless security keys, and any ports and services that were opened while using the router.
- If you have moved to a new city or region, or if you are using a used Netgear router, you may need to reset the device so you can enter new username and password information that is relevant to your current internet service provider.
